The aircraft flight time display has rolled backward four times, for a total loss of 220.6 hours. The dealer says Garmin has no fix for it. This is the meter that determines maintenance times.

Series Of Failures

During cruise, the PFD unit installed under STC SA10822SC failed. This is one in a series of failures from this install. With the ongoing troubles with this unit, we are electing to remove the STC from the aircraft and revert to standard instrumentation.

Multiple Failures

Crew reported multiple G1000 failures: TAWS inop annunciation, random chip detector annunciations, the autopilot automatically disengaged and the MFD froze for approximately 20 seconds. All indications returned to normal by arrival. Maintenance noted the MFD database was reported missing. They reseated the database card and the system operated normally.

Failed Weather Radar Display

Pilot smelled burning after turning weather radar on and noticed a small whiff of smoke from behind the instrument panel, which went away. Weather radar did not work. Maintenance inspected for burnt wires but found none; system was deferred. Problem determined to be a failed weather radar display.

PFD Shutdown

After takeoff, the Perspective PFD shut down and the MFD went into reversionary mode. The pilot returned to the departure airport.

The upper center multifunction display, KDU-1080, went pink and then black. Installed a repaired center multifunction display. Ops checked satisfactory.

Failed Attitude Display

The PFD’s attitude display failed. Bench testing resulted in wandering indicated airspeed and altitude displays. The manufacturer determined this failure’s only solution is to replace the EFD1000 with a newer version under a different p/n. A new EFD1000 was installed and ground-tested serviceable.
