At 15:50, EST, the pilot of a Piper Malibu Mirage lost control of the airplane during the landing roll at Laurens County Airport after an apparent downwind landing. The six people on board were not injured. The pilot said that after touchdown on runway 26, which was wet, braking action did not appear to slow the airplane. The airplane began to skid and went off the left side of the runway, where it suffered substantial damage. A review of weather data from the nearest reporting facility showed that the prevailing winds at the time of the accident were 020 degrees at 11 knots, gusting to 18 knots.
