The airplane impacted terrain at about 1300 mountain time. The private pilot and three of his passengers received serious injuries; one of his passengers received minor injuries. The airplane, which belonged to a friend of the pilot, sustained substantial damage. The flight was operating in visual conditions. According to the pilot, while in maneuvering flight, the engine suddenly stopped producing power and he was unable to get it restarted. During his attempt to land, the airplane collided with the terrain. The pilot later stated he had either run out of gas or something in the airplanes engine had failed.
