At 23:45 central time, a Cessna 172N lost engine power and was damaged in the ensuing forced landing near Marfa. The pilot and passenger sustained minor injuries. The flight was IFR en route from Austin to El Paso when the pilot reported he was low on fuel. He landed at Culberson County Airport to refuel but was unable, so he elected to fly to Marfa for fuel. While en route to Marfa, the engine lost power. Investigators found no usable fuel aboard.
