This wasn’t a diversion; it’s just an old sightseeing track I flew a few years ago. But I use it to illustrate an important point: The closest divert field with approaches, fuel, facilities and some level of civilization may be behind you.
When you need to divert for an unplanned stop, the reason for Plan B will dictate some of the choices you’ll make.
