At about 1515 Central time, the airplane experienced a loss of engine power shortly after departure. The commercial pilot and six passengers were not injured; the airplane sustained substantial damage during the forced landing. Visual conditions prevailed.
Four of the parachutists aboard jumped from the airplane; the remaining two parachutists and pilot made an emergency landing in a field. The airplane sustained damage during the forced landing when the nose landing gear was torn away. There was a hole in the engine’s crankcase near the number four cylinder.
