At about 18:15 Pacific time, a Piper PA-24-250 struck terrain while in cruise flight near El Dorado. The pilot and three passengers were killed. The flight was bound from Las Vegas to Cameron Park, Calif. The pilot apparently did not get a weather briefing or make contact with any FAA facilities. Local residents reported strong winds and thunderstorms at the time of the accident.
